Saving planet Earth one Fume Hood at a time...

LinkLabconco prides itself on its commitment to incorporate green initiatives into its standard operating procedure. Adding the Echo and Airo Filtered Fume Hoods to our product line furthers this commitment.

LinkWell-cited research states that one-ducted fume hood running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, uses as much energy as three single-family homes! The reason is not because of the electricity used by the fume hood itself. Rather, it's the process to blame for exhausting the tempered air in the lab to the outside. Air-conditioned air and heated air have to be continually replaced and that costs resources and money.

The Echo and Airo are both ductless fume hoods known for energy savings by returning the tempered air back into the laboratory rather than exhausting it outside.

Labconco’s sales engineer, Beth Mankameyer, successfully proposed that Labconco plant a grove of trees for each Echo and Airo sold. In 2015, we planted 475 trees through the Arbor Day Foundation.

“So far for 2016, we’re on track to planting double that amount,” states Beth. She continues, “The idea for the promotion grew from the fact that the Echo and Airo promote more eco-friendly laboratories, so we took that as a starting point for our brainstorming session.”

Labconco Corporation has partnered with France-based Erlab to cover the North American market. One of Erlab’s more popular phrases is “You don’t just dump dirty water into a lake, so why would you dump dirty air into the atmosphere?”

We agree there are plenty of safety reasons to exhaust your dirty air outside. And what cleans that dirty air? Trees! Our theory is the more trees the better. Who can argue with that?
