Laboratories are notorious for being energy hogs. The expense of heating and cooling the air that is exhausted out of a lab to provide scientists a safe working environment is one of the biggest expenses a lab incurs.

By using filtered fume hoods, the number of air exchanges in a lab can be drastically reduced. Because filter technology has evolved over the years, a larger variety of applications can be performed safely in a filtered hood.

Read about the use of Filtered Fume Hoods at Bristol Community College and other design features in the new Zero Net Energy (ZNE) lab: “The 50,000-sf New Technology and Learning Center (NTLC) for Bristol Community College (BCC), Fall River, Mass has achieved what was considered unthinkable just a few years ago, a Zero Net Energy Laboratory.”
